Don't get me wrong. I don't like being held up in my car, and I *really*
like to go fast; I'm the poster child for road rage. But that only

pedestrians and bicyclists and all that to watch out for. I don't wiz
past cyclists at mere inches. I don't honk at them, potentially startling
them and getting them run over. I don't pull out in front of them.

I understand your dilemma. I think a lot of what you experience is also a bi-product of those bicyclists who don't obey traffic laws. Who split lanes at lights, who breeze through them, who ignore stop signs, and who basically only obey the traffic laws when it benefits them. I for one am all for bikers rights, but then when some idiot splits the lane on me and blows through a light it just makes me want to honk my horn as I barley miss them. By the way I am an avid motorcylist for the last 20 something years.

I agree with both of you on this (which is why I ride mountain bikes
and not road bikes). Bikers that don't follow the laws do a lot to
give a bad perception of cyclists to motorists, but there's still absolutely
no
excuse for what some motorists do. Of course, it doesn't help when
local "celebreties" like Bob Dum[b]as[s] urge their listners to physically
hurt cyclists by hitting them (with cars) or throwing bottles at them.
