"FORMAT C:" jokes aside, sure, you can close the ones that are known, and
that Microsoft has provided a patch for, and that don't interfere with the
proper operation of the services you do need, and that you have the savvy
to close.

search on 'Microsoft'. The results page may take a while to download on
a slow line. And those are just the vulnerabilities discovered since 2001,
two years after I stopped using my old Win95 laptop.
