Yes, I did read his message before I typed that reply. I did concede
to his point on exclusionary licensing (although I did leave an
important qualifier in the sentence - "not" should come before
"subjected".

My point was in regards to prohibitive/protective licensing. I should
be able to market and sell my product however I decide is best for my
business. As stated before I completely agree that I shouldn't be able
to dictate what vendors can sell, but merely that they can't screw
around and devalue my product if they decide to sell it.

What is so difficult about this is that there are religious zealots
running around whining about the toolset I predominately chose to
employ. It gets sorely old after a while, particularly so when people
rant and rave without consideration to relevant factors.

The court did find that, and yes the appellate court upheld SOME of the
findings. So let it go. My original response was about C#.

Given the installed user base, security holes and bugs are more apt to
be discovered than in lesser utilized platforms such as Linux.

No, he's saying that if your company is successful and then goes on to
protect its success through illegal means the reward is litigation. Did
you even read his message before typing out this reply?

What is so difficult about this, anyway? Microsoft is a monopoly - the
original court has found this, and the appeals court has upheld it. They
have used means specifically forbidden to those with monopoly power in
order to protect that monopoly, and the end result has been harm to the
consumer and companies in other markets - with a promise of more.

Whether you want a plastic jesus on your desktop, or whether you think
Microsoft software is poorly written, insecure, and the result of
pandering to the worst forms of human stupidity and laziness is utterly
irrelevant. What matters here is that they broke the laws of this land
(and, as it turns out, may be set to break those of the EU) and the
question is whether and how they should be punished.
