Brrr...I'm glad I don't live in Pennsylvania!
It should be single digits here in the morning...the forcast is for
about 9 degrees officially for tomorrow and 7 for Friday morning. We
can count on it being 5-6 degrees colder, so I'll be around 0-3 degrees
over the next few days. Should I cover the garlic and onions in my
raised beds? It will be okay, won't it?

My garlic is under a foot of snow, so it's OK. I can't raise onions in the winter here; they rot when they thaw out in the spring. You might want to cover the garlic, but I've left mine uncovered and unmulched all winter before and it's done fine.

I've found that once the temps get below about 10 degrees, it all feels the same to me. The difference between 20 and 30 degrees is like night and day to me, but.10, 0, -10...I can't tell the difference. I just went out to give hay to the animals and bring up a load of wood, and I put on too many layers. It's 11 degrees, but I was sweating. Better than being cold, though; it takes me longer to warm up as I get older. Here's where hot flashes came in handy; last year I was walking around in a tee shirt saying "Is it hot in here?"
