I'm with you on that. I think there is a lot we just don't know...things are interconnected, and we are just now seeing how interconnected the Earth really is...many people see the big picture of things like losing the rainforest and climate change, but refuse to accept 'smaller' impacts...I put smaller in quotes because I do believe that there is something to the butterfly effect, and if so, something small can become something big.

Well, it's a little of both. My son loves disaster movies where the cause is man-made and the govenment tries to hide it. I'd believe it of these modern governments, although they'd be more likely to ignore it than consciously hide it.

There's a lot of gas well drilling in this area, and my son can't decide if it will cause a giant earthquake or awaken Mothra. Personally, I think it will just screw up our drinking water. We have so much natural gas that there are stories of wells exploding from natural gas and an electrical spark from the pump. If it ain't one thing, it's something else :-)

I'm not sure whether or not you are being serious or sarcastic, but
humans do cause a lot of disaster. There are some who believe the 2004
Boxing Day tsunami was caused by oil drilling near the fault offshore.
The other day, I found that article about geysers and how geothermal
drilling has disrupted the geysers.(or did I just send that one to Sandy)

That's a really interesting theory. It's like life imitating a disaster
movie. My son loves them and has seen them all, and the government always
knows about (and often caused) the problem long before they tell the public.
Did they create weather supercells or did they slow down the core of the
earth? Or maybe some biological weapon has gotten away from them? Endless
possibilities for disaster.
