LOL... we all think you are nuts Bob, get used to it. ;)
The only problem I can see with this is that you will eventually have to
get the rocks out of the tank/pond, and that might be a trick if it,
too, is frozen in place. Also, in a stock tank, you are going to give
algae a place to grow if the tank is in the sun, not that it matters
much to water quality for animals, but it makes a messy cleanout.
Exploding rocks are not fun. It is usually a double whammy, you get the
impact/laceration and a burn.

Hey Bob, that's a great idea! I'll try it when I get home. Too bad I am just now getting to this email. I could have put a hot rock right at the edge of that little pond and it would have made at least a little water for them. and i could put some smaller ones innever want to repeat that lesson, either.

Or, it might make the rocks explode. lol. we'll see what happens if

Roxanne , I just thought of an idea that might sound crazy, but having a frozen water trough or pond where the animals can't drink,
and you couldn't break the ice with a shovel.. If you have a wood stove or fireplace, maybe you could keep a couple of large, smooth rocks or large
wagon, and just dump them on top of the ice; to let the heat and gravity from the heavy stones break and melt the ice. If you are laughing at my idea, that's okay ;-)

The true significance of Sacajawea's involvement in the Lewis & Clark
expedition is that it was the first documented trip in history where men
asked a woman for directions and followed them, allowing them to arrive
at their destination.
