When I got home she explained that at that point they became very open and friendly and seemed to be aplogizing for having to go. But they didn't make an offer for the goat, as far as she could tell.

I said, "Not to be surprised, you didn't offer to sell the goat, you invited them to lunch."



That's funny...I took it as Do you like/want goat kid? Depending on the time of day and circumstances, it could have been an offer to stay for dinner as well.
