Ditto here in sw VA, we usually go by Mother's Day give or take. The Stayman
Winesap apple tree was in full bloom this year on April 22. Thirty-seven
miles NE and down the mountains is the city of Roanoke with a three-week
longer growing season. When we're really itching for spring, if we have to
go to town, we might venture to Roanoke to catch daffodils in bloom and
trees leafing out ahead of Floyd County's schedule. Then it's back home up
the mountain where spring has not yet emerged.
