Rolled oats, or steel cut oats?

NOT rolled oats. That's "processed" and you don't want it. It it says "Quaker" keep looking for what you want.
Steel cut oats only if you can't get the real thing:

"Whole Oat Groats." See your hippy food store bulk section. If it's a long drive to your hippy store, get more than a pound. You'll LIKE it.

Steel Cut oats cook faster than whole grains but will do in a pinch. They come in a fancy steel tin from Scotland or some place (McCanns). Avoid them because they cost maybe five times as much as the whole oat groats at your hippy food store bulk section.
