There is a difference between a temporary emergency measure like the
bailout and a long term policy of control, but yes, it does bother me.
They should never have approved a bailout-it is disgraceful and greedy
that we have a bailout to begin with-we should have just taken our lumps
and suffered through it-nothing in life is free-there will always be bad
times to balance the good in every generation. This bailout thing just
goes to show how deep in shit we are when even the banking industry has
a hand out expecting the government to rescue them instead of taking
responsibility for their own gambling and risky business practices.
If I screwed up my personal finances, I would never borrow money to get
myself out of trouble. That would only lead to more trouble. I would
just suck it up and take my lumps. I sure as hell wouldn't borrow money
from a bank or family..no bailout, no handout...If I am homeless, then I
deserve to be because I made bad decisions, and it is up to me and only
me to get myself straighten out and back on the right track without a
handout.

But back to the question, _I_ thought the bailout was a temporary
measure of control...there would be an end to the taxpayer's subsidy.
When our children finally pay off the subsidy, that things would return
to the way they were,,,no government control,,,only free market control.
It was my understanding that the bailout was a temporary measure. It is
my understanding that Pelosi, Obama, Frank et al want to make it
permanent. I believe Pelosi has said as much, that government should be
controlling the banking system. I saw on the news that she is already
holding meetings as to how to maintain this economic situation so that
they can pass the legislation that they want to pass. If people are
hurting and poor, then they reach out and WANT government help and don't
ask or care about the long term consequences of those handouts.
In the movie _The Hunt for Red October_, Jack Ryan, as he shaves, asks
himself, "How do you get the crew of a nuclear submarine to want to get
off the sub, you make them want to get off it"...ding ding ding...you
create a radiation hazard. IMO, I think this whole economic mess is the
product of Frank, Pelosi, and certain Democrats who set the trains in
motion years ago, and orchestrated all of this and planned, and now,
they sit back and watch with pleasure as Americans reach out crying
"save us". They smile, because they have the plan...program after
program to save people..and people will say and think it is GOOD. They
aren't thinking about what it does to our country long term, or what
kind of peripheral complications there might be(like the eventual loss
of good jobs because mid sized businesses will go under because they are
taxed out of business or how the rich, those with the wealth, those that
are to support the have-nots, will have moved overseas before 2009
arrives.) IMO, it is just like Monsanto and GMO foods/seeds...let me
play God with seed and we can feed the world...we will manipulate the
seed just so, to protect it from all things 'cide, and we will feed the
world and fuel the cars...worship us..Monsanto et al. And if you dare
try to save seed or grow your own, you will be punished, and drug
through the courts for years until you lose everything you have. Squash
the naysayers.
I see no difference between what is happening in America with the
Democratic/Republican party and what is happening with Frankenfoods and
Monsanto. They have created the problem, and present the solution. The
solutions are very, very problematic.

Do I think it matters who wins...yes. Like I stated before, checks and
balances.

As to those others who are running, I am one of those who will vote
third party. I have said that multiple times here.

Bev; Doesn't it bother you that both McCain and Obama voted for the bailout? If forcing tax payers to subsidize the loses of wall street
isn't socialism, what is? Tax cuts for the rich/tax cuts for the poor...the tax plans are the same, but opposite (how is one socialism
and one not?). Both voted FOR the Patriot Act, which is eroding our
freedom. Do you really think it matters who wins? Both are in the pocket of big business and will serve their overlords.

There ARE people running for president who would NOT have voted that
way. Candidates who believe in civic liberties and the constitution,
but few people have the guts to support them. That's why we keep getting more of the same, or worse.
