The purpose of civilization is to raise humans above their base animal instincts. By banding together we can improve everyone's lot.
America is an experiment in building a superior civilization. We here have all benefited from the experiment. How we conduct ourselves as we go forward will speak to our values. My values include being sensitive to the needs of my fellow humans.
