Exactly, Don. The Grand Canyon, the Scablands, and about a bazillion other landscapes were carved quickly. I recall, when I was traveling from Yakima to Spokane, feeling kind of awestruck, imagining being engulfed in a massive wall of water-lake Missoula washing away everything for hundreds of miles...

This was an issue when describing the Channeled Scablands in Washington. By the 70s many geologists were saying the erosion happened very fast, maybe in a few days. But many geologists stuck with the very long ties they were used to. It was not until further research convinced many.
