It is simply amazing what the government will waste money on! My response to that is "no duh. Now someone tell me something I don't already know."

We have a major quake about every 10 to 20 years and always have, so predicting one within 30 years is a no brainer.

When we bought in Humboldt County we looked at the houses with earthquakes and flooding in mind. We bought a solid redwood built prior to 1903, that had easily withstood the 1906 quake and all the ones that came after. Solid redwood may twist a bit, might even jump off the foundation (ours hadn't) in a REALLY big one but you jack it up and put it back. Heck, that house still has the original windows in it!

Now, how many people do you think will make home location choices
based on information like this?
