Well, this got me curious, so I had to go look. We're at 40.55 and being at 3,000' would explain why we are still working on seeing anything spring like except the redbud.

Bev & Gene,
Here in NE TN we are about two weeks behind Bev and a week behind
Gene, I am still enjoying the bulbs and the fruit trees, the
redbuds are beginning to show and the dogwoods are still small
little balls. With all the rain and lack of sun they may take a bit
longer,
That is interesting, in that our latitudes are almost the same. I
would have expected very similar natural cycles. Google Earth shows
that I am at 36.44N latitude and that the Skeen scoundrel skulks
around at about 36.35
I will report on when I see the first dogwood blooms. That will be a
good comparison.
Yeah, it would. As you can see from my siggie, we are at 34.5 or so of
latitude, 2 full degrees south of you. I believe one degree is about 69
miles, so I am almost the equivalent of being 140 miles south of you.
That sounds about right for James and Denise, too. The old saying of "a
mile a minute" is true.
Latitude is interesting to think about. Yeah, you have the sun's
influence, but more importantly, you have ocean currents and large
bodies of water that influence things, too. Chicago and Rome Italy are
on the same latitude, as are Athens, Greece and Washington DC.
There are a slew of websites that talk about stuff like that. When you
think about Rome and Chicago being on equal lats, you can more easily
imagine an ice sheet over Europe.
Anyway, since the rain last night, even more stuff has bloomed. I see a
few more tulips and hyacinths, the dogwoods are even more open and
getting more 'white', and even my Sweet Shrub has a few 'blossoms'
showing. My favorite, though, is the Candytuft. I love it.
Bev, in the rainy, fog-pocketed ridges of northwest Georgia at 55 degrees.
