Of course, we have been under restriction against watering lawns, washing
cars and filling pools for nearly a year now, so this does not really apply.
Do
people sneak around it? perhaps, but there are rewards for turning those
folks in, carwashes can only operate if they recycle water, and I can
honestly
say I have not seen a lawn sprinkler on since last year. I should also add
that while the Tenn. issue is getting lots of media time, this really became
an
issue when Alabama and Fla. sued to keep Atlanta from drawing more water
from
Lake Lanier. This man made resevoir was built to store water for Atlanta.
The point to building a resevoir is to stockpile for times of need, so now
we
can't touch it? Outlet streams and rivers carry the water down to these
other
states, neither state is suffering the drought level in areas they feed that
Georgia is feeling. That loss in the courts immediately turned a shortage
into a crises.

Atlanta's water troubles will be over when they 'cry me a river.' The
popular image is of poor Atlanteans turning the tap for a drink of water and
having
to go away sad and parched. Even under the worst of times all they'd have
to
do is stop watering lawns, filling swimming pools, and washing cars. Can
you
imagine how many times you can get a glass of water and flush on what it
takes
to fill a swimming pool!
