Sure sounds like spreading, alright! I've always been fascinated by the uses
of
bamboo, and have seen a number of very informative programs on
home-and-garden TV
and in magazine articles where it's used not only for fencing (what's new?)
but
also for flooring, countertops...all kinds of things! And then there's the
well-worn - and much appreciated - back scratcher I keep in the drawer of my
desk!
Out here in the mid-Mojave, where the residences (abandoned and occupied) are
few
and far between, there is always the inevitable stand of dried-out,
dead-as-a-doornail bamboo, planted years ago as a windbreak, shade, or
whatever.
Did they think it would live without any water at all?
I love the photos of the bamboo 'forests', lush and green and reaching to the
sky. I suppose I should plant some, just in case a stray panda or two wanders
by!
I'm going to be very interested in following this thread - not using what's
freely (accent on the 'free') available to you as building material would be a
shame.
Has anyone seen the new black one? Looks like jewelry. And it could be, for
$95 a
pop!
