A goldsmith I know does very good work and is very successful at it. He
learned his craft in prison. Does it follow that going to prison in and of itself is a good thing?

Inexplicably this reminds me of my friend, Steven Foster. Some of you will know him as the author and co-author of many and wide-ranging books on herbs. He is also a plant photographer and has amassed a huge collection of photos. Book and magazine editors pay him for the use of his shots.

When Steven became ready for higher learning he asked his parents for book purchase money instead of college tuition. With those thousands of dollars he bought a substantial library focused on his passion. He has subsequently become one of the most knowledgeable persons on herbs and has made a successful career in same.
