Parents aren't there when these things happen. For most kids it is hours later before they can run to or talk to mom and dad.

Ya know, I wonder if you would apply the same logic to adults. For instance, does a MFC have to have been the victim of spousal abuse to council folks at women's shelters? Should a homeless shelter be run by the former homeless? Or maybe all teachers should have to have raised children of the age they are teaching?

Part of developing the social skills is learning how
to deal the negative situations. An important part of
the learning process is to encounter negative
situations and deal with them. It is better to
sometimes have this happen while parents are there for
backup and guidance.
