That's a good analysis.

This year I am trying a few litters of rabbits with virtually no purchased
feed. We gather plantain, yellow dock, clover, lambs quarter, and a many
other
"weeds" to make up the bulk of the rabbits' diet. Anything from the kitchen
and waste from the garden gets added. Some rabbits like milk added to their
feed, some don't, and as we have surplus milk, we try it with each litter.

It's a different paradigm. The total amount of meat we get from a litter
with no purchased feed is less than if they had free access to pellets. How
much
less I'm not sure. But the meat/feed cost ratio is infinite. And it takes
time to graze for them each day (at least).

Like Bev, I bury the skins in the garden. I once looked into the idea of
selling the tanned skins to the SCA types, but at the time Tandy sold rabbit
skins for $1 each. No way I would do that much disagreeable work for $1 and
then
have to push to sell them.

I've not found anything that converts weeds and refuse into meat nearly as
efficiently as rabbits.
