Even if this theory is true, we should still take steps to minimize pollution,
lower emissions and greenhouse gas.
Yes. The global warming issue is ultimately useful only if it heightens awareness of sound Earth stewardship. Common sense tells us that we would live better lives and leave Gaia in better shape for our grandchildren if we did those things that reduce our dependency on finite resources, eliminate pollution of air, water and soil, eliminate our use of chemicals that do not self-destruct, and simply remember that we all live downstream.
Alas, gold is god, greed is pandemic and the common people want more, more, more. The few of us who strive to live ecologically sound lives are of little effect on the large scene. Who can blame third-world peoples for wanting what we fat Americans have enjoyed for a hundred years? The international scene reminds me of the final days of the Roman Empire. The level of corruption amongst politicians and business people is so bad and the populace is so lethargic that I question my small sacrifices made out of respect for the land. They waste while I recycle.
I am optimistic about my pessimism only when I read an inspirational story about how someone somewhere who has consequential stature sees the big picture and is fighting the good fight. My bottom-line belief that sustains me is that the truth will out. Right now it appears a very long wait.
