What an honour :-)

I tried two commercial (evaluation) drivers today:
- OpenLink Release 4.1; Did not even succeed the test connect because of
library incompatibilities with ASE 11.0.3.3 client libs.
- Intersolve (now DataDirect) Version 4.10 "Wire Protocol" driver; The ODBC
driver doesn't rely on Sybase client libraries but speaks native TDS
protocol instead (!)
Test connect succeeds, connect from OpenOffice-1.0.1 succeeds, although
no tables are being shown in the OpenOffice database view. Connect from
StarOffice-5.2 fails (unfortunately whithout writing a trace).

So the conclusion is: StarOffice appears to be a difficult candidate.
On the other hand FreeTDS' ODBC driver is known to be capable to talk to a
Sybase server (with 'isql' for example) and StarOffice is capable to connect
to remote databases (I tried MyODBC with success).

There must be only a tiny little bit that prevents StarOffice - unixODBC -
FreeTDS from working correctly,

Martin.
