David, my position is not based on Frank's paper on pseudonymity. I'm sorry
that I didn't make that clear. My position is based on the work of Martin
Luther Stirewalt and the work of the Seminar on Paul, sponsored by the SBL
in the late '60's and early '70's, which looked at epistolography and
epistolary theory.

Stirewalt made the case then, and in later publications, that the persons
listed in the opening greeting should be seen as the letter carriers, and
that mention of them was a kind of word of recommendation because the
carrier would be expected to read the letter to the congregation and
interpret it for them. I was persuaded then and became more convinced as I
pursued rhetorical analysis of the letters.

If memory serves, some of us on the list discussed this within the last year
or two so I don't want to belabor it.
