If you look carefully at my post, you will see that I nowhere said anything
about Paul
denying or not being recognized as an "apostle". What I denied, based on the
Paul's
testimony in 1 Cor 15, was that he ever thought of himself as among the group
of apostles
still known in his own day as "the Twelve".

Moreover, the question which prompted my response also was not concerned to
deny that Paul
considered himself to be an apostle. Rather, it dealt with the question of
whether Paul or
anyone else thought that he (Paul) took the place within the circle of all
apostles known
as the Twelve left vacated by the death of Judas.

Consequently your array of texts speaks to an issue that was never raised.

May I also take this opportunity of re-iterating what has been noted
previously on List
about basing exegesis of the letters of Paul on an English version, and
especially the KJV
translation, of the Greek text of his writings, namely, that it is not a sound
methodological procedure and is, therefore, to be avoided.

Yours,

Jeffrey Gibson
