Hi, All: I've gotten wind of a fairly new strategy for Independent
Artists. Not sure where it originated, but wanted to see if anyone
knows the original source.

As you may know, SONG STORM is a nonprofit project of Open Studios. It
is a site with a playlist contest theme. It is also a model of what a
small group thinks future music portals might be like, e.g., sites that
are dedicated to driving listeners to Independent Artist sites to
purchase recordings and recording merchandise directly from artists,
learn more, etc. We also follow the "license specifically for Internet
strategy" philosophy.

Podcasting is one way to create a really classy sampler of an artist's
music, and at the same time, by mixing voice and music, protect the song
in the sense that the full version isn't really available, unless it is
purchased. Has anyone come across such discussion about this Internet
strategy?

Thanks, in advance,
Tom Poe
