Keep in mind, it's not just about attracting acts that are skipping
the area but also selling more tix to the acts the Cradle currently
attracts. For example, Girl Talk sold out immediately which suggests
there are a lot more people who would like to attend that show than
the current Cradle can accomodate.
I know from running Local 506, we must staff three employees (sound/
bar/door) for any show we do, no matter how few people might show up.
For most of our biggest shows, we only have to add one staff person.
Basically, a club makes a lot of it's investment up front - the
overhead doesn't change dramatically when more people come out to a
show.
