as much as i love carrboro, i can't recommend you move there if you're going
to be working in raleigh. the commute is soul-sucking.... and bad for the
environment.

living almost next door to the krispy kreme can't be a bad thing.

Well, don't move to Apex! It pretty much sucks, and I can't wait to get
back to the Chapel Hill/Durham area.

That said, and others have mentioned it, Five Points is a really great area.
I've got some friends who moved there from Chapel Hill who now live in
Clayton (East of Raleigh, don't move there either), and they also miss
Chapel Hill. More so than Five Points, although they would move back there
if they could (they had a baby, so it's now all about school districts for
them).

Look in the Village Advocate (if that's still around in CH), and also check
out Carrboro. Carrboro was pretty cool, save the sometimes hour or longer
drive into downtown Raleigh for work.

Best of luck,

So I'm moving to Raleigh in mid-July from Pittsburgh. I know no one in the
city, and still have yet to find a place to live. I was referred to this
list by the only person I know in the triangle area. I was told it was
filled with friendly people who are happy to answer. I've been looking for
places on the News Observer online, but I'm a little lost not knowing any of
the neighborhoods in the city. Anywhere else I look I just get endless
links to "The Pines at Suncrest" or "Suncrest at the Pines" or some soulless
townhouse community with a similar name. Any guidance anyone could offer me
as far as good places to live in Raleigh would be greatly appreciated.

Take care,
Michael Lang
