Using yahoo webmail, as far as I can tell I only have a choice of html or
"plain text". I already chose plain text, guess its not plain enough. Will
investigate later...

A 2.4 kernel is fine with me if you feel like making one!

My only option for networking it at the moment would be a null modem link to
another pc. Doesn't seem worth the effort to set it up.

I have been attempting to compile on one of my faster machines then transfer
the compiled kernel to the laptop with a floppy disk. I mentioned slackware
earlier, but have been using a ubuntu virtual machine, as from what I have
read that should work too.

I have been unable to find any 2.6 kernel linuxes that would run in the
laptops 12mb ram. Tiny core needs more like 48mb.
