I was able to download a 100 mb file in 30 seconds - which makes it
3,3 mb/s =) The reason why I'm using it is mostly because I want to
set the box up as a server with router functionality, and for that I
need 2 NICs - and I had this one laying around.

I get about 8MB an hour at home. Up to 300K/sec at the library
using a laptop with at least 12MB RAM.

Speaking of which, I've ran into another problem, and I have no idea
how to solve it - when I try to run configure on some source I've
downloaded, it almost always says "checking for grep that handles long
lines and -e... configure: error: no acceptable grep could be found in
/usr/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/local/bin:.:/usr/xpg4/bin"

Grep works perfectly as far as I can tell - still, I tried downloading
GREP from http://www.linux.org/apps/AppId_2609.html, and it gives me
the same error. I can't find anything about it on google. Could it
have something to do with the kernel upgrade?

You must have got a version precompiled for a different libc.
You will save time and trouble by using the Slackware 4 versions.
