Smaller 2.4.31 laptop kernels with framebuffer support (for xfbdev)
http://keesan.freeshell.org/bl/2.4.31/bzimlsfu.431 652K

For laptops with non-SVGA-X-server video chips (neomagic MagicGraph 128 V/ZV, as in DELL Latitude) I also compiled 610K

I omitted VGA console - you MUST boot with vga=785 (640x480) or vga=788 (800x600) to see any text at all. Also have msdos and vfat only as modules.

Booting with vga=XXX adds 60K at boot time, but booting without vga console probably reduces RAM usage correspondingly.

If you want VGA console use the lfsu kernel instead. Docs say fat adds 37K (general) + 7K (msdos) + 10K (vfat). Eliminating it and VGA console only reduced kernel size 42K. Maybe the 37K was for everything?

'la' kernel is 594K (no framebuffer or sound).

Steven's 'big' 2.2.26 kernel is about 700K and supports framebuffer (vesafb) and modular sound. If enough people request it I will download the 2.2.27 source code and compile for that with Steven's various configs and also a smaller kernel (around 500K) with vesafb. Maybe you can also compile 2.2.26 with nomce instead of the default.
