Toshiba 420CDT.

The sound is now working.
io=0x220 set in BIOS after booting with ESC, F1 and changing 240 to 220.

I can play mp3s with mpg-123 or another small mp3 player (play-mp3) which I just uploaded (168K for glibc 2).

I have not installed sox to play wav files, or mplayer.

Workbone wants me to turn on Numlock (which is turned off in BIOS, and I don't see a NumLock key to turn it on with). mcdp (a small cd player that does not require the number pad and should work under X without any special options) says status invalid and cannot find any tracks. ???

My 505K zimage.fsm kernel supports sound (sb and other modules) and vesafb (framebuffer). If I boot with vga=788 I see a penguin and also more rows and columns of text (800x600 mode). xfbdev (provided by David Moberg, needs libm.so.5) works and is about 969K. Xvesa is 869K. The SVGA server is over 3MB and uses 4.5 times the RAM of Xvesa or xfbdev. Is there any advantage to xfbdev over Xvesa?

loadlin zimage.fsm root=/dev/hda2 rw vga=788

BL3 also works with vesafb using this same 2.2.16 kernel, at 800x600 xfbdev works.

My 480K zimage.sb should also work for sound, but without framebuffer.

My 2.4.31 laptop kernel has no sound or framebuffer support.

I may compile a small 2.4.31 kernel for P1 laptops with USB ports, sb and vesafb.

top and ps are not working on the laptop.
top: scandir ('/proc'): Function not implemented.
ps lists no processes. I have a /proc with lots in it.
