According to the kernel compiling documentation, if you compile sb
(Soundblaster) into the kernel
add when booting (loadlin or lilo):
sb=<io>,<irq>,<dma>,<dma2>
loadlin ....... sb=0x220,5,1 works for ESS688 (sbpro, 8-bit)
It played an mp3.
For 16-bit sb or emulation (Yamaha?) add ",1" for dma2.
Works with my bzimlsfu.431 kernel. No need to insmod anything later.
