Hi Steven,

I'm writing to the forum from
the Toshiba T4800CT for the first time!
I installed links2ssl from the
addons but it never worked under
JWM; there seems to be some
kind of problem with the graphics
... but just now i tried it
from the command line and it works fine!

That is, as long as i'm logged in
as root. I have also installed passwd
and set up a 'regular user' account.
I can surf the web OK with links2ssl,
but i can't use it for a secure
connection (such as this email,
for example) from the 'regular user'
account. I have to open links2ssl
from the root account for it to
work properly with SSL.

I see that part of the problem is
that /etc/profile specifies
export HOME=/root ... and of course, for
the 'regular user' account i don't want
HOME to be that. But how can i
change it?

On other Linux distros which i use, i see
that there is usually some 'if-then' code
which checks to see who is logged in.
But i'm not sure where that code should go in BL,
because it seems that every Linux i use
has the start-up procedure set up
uniquely.

Thanks.
