BL is so strange (being based on busybox, to start with) that it is unlikely anyone would break into your system even if you ran it as root (with a password added, for some security).
The 'mail' program is a little script based on pmail - not the best thing for relaying spam.
How would someone in theory take over a BL computer?
I checked for rootkits (linux virus-like things) and the only suspicious files were the pieces of busybox. This is after running as root for years, online.
I have of course been scolded for this, which is why I finally set things up to work as user.
