This is Czerno again. I was able to download / unzip / untar the kbd
packet by myself ;=) so please ignore the first part of my former
request.

You can also use 'pkg' to install a Slackware package, which runs any install script (to link libraries). Or installpkg for Bl2.

I could follow your advice and install loadkeys for my own French
kbd.

I will take instructions for installing the parts I need /only/
(loadkeys executable/ tables?/what else...) !

There is a link at the BL site to Basiclinux Support, and at the bottom of that page, Searching the Archive. Search on loadkeys. I only modified a couple of keys, which is different from changing the whole keyboard.

loadkeys --help says:

Usage: loadkeys [option...] [mapfile...]

/usr/lib/kbd/keymaps/i386/qwerty/ should have your keymap
pl.map.gz looks like a Polish keymap, for instance.

You can put loadkeys in rc to load at boot time.

You probably need from kbd.tgz only loadkeys (/usr/bin) and your keymap file (in the above directory). Loadkeys has no special dependencies.

Thanks !
