I would greatly appreciate if both new and old members could refrain from

intentionally posted information, or requests for information, in a style
intended to annoy.

Really? What would you call this?:

I have found the problem with some help from people in another list.

BL3 apparently has very limited space, and I filled it.

I meant nobody until now. And the above two lines are not intended to be annoying, merely to express frustration.

I have asked questions about how to make BL work at TAG, when Steven could not give me the answer. (using two monitors with mdacon.o).

[Why go to another list? Especially when the answers were posted
on this list before he posted this? I think he is just plain
lying. If not, he can post the URL to the list archive-entry
where he asked that question and received an answer. Then I
will apologize.]

He probably did not know there was an archive. And was too much of a Newbie to want to bother us if there was some other solution first.

The solution offered is to delete all files and re-install it.
That would work if you don't understand what you are doing and only want 20MB of something that does work. Like fixing Windows. I did reinstall to fix some problem that involved something leftover in registry after uninstalling a driver, easier than learning to edit the registry.

[Not here. Did you ask about BL on one of your cooking lists?]

If you think this is bad advice, you should read the 250 or so responses stretching over a month, when someone that we fixed a computer for asked for help at a site for beginners, to install Win2000 without retaining Win98 on her son's computer 'because it would take up too much memory'. (They had a large hard drive). She reformatted the drive and wiped out three files apparently needed by the installation program on CD (but we were able to install from 4 boot floppies made from the CD). People told her to unplug all the cables, and download a utility to reformat her hard drive (she gave us the utility but did not manage to get all the cables plugged back in) and various other difficult but irrelevant things. Then she gave it to a friend who swapped out all the parts (he said) and pronounced the motherboard dead. We replaced the power supply and it worked.

There is no point in an OS that I can't use to keep the stuff I want.

[He is much too experienced with computers for that to be an honest
statement.]

How do you know that?

What a waste of time this has been.

That's just plain insulting.

I found it annoying but not intentionally insulting.

But my posting was also aimed at him, suggesting that he ask for help politely while pointing out politely that he could not find sufficient instructions in the readme or the other included help files.

And his FIRST post was equally rude:

This is all EXTREMELY disappointing!

Is it true that BasicLinux does work, or is it just another urban
myth?

It expresses his attitude. But I did find his attitude annoying and if he reads my posting he might realize it was also aimed at him.

After using it for what? An hour? He is not an idiot. Expecting
a specialized distro like this to behave like suse is idiotic.

What's he doing back again after all that?

I'm not going to help the smart-mouthed punk. He can take a hike.

I am not going to correspond with you if you keep expressing that sort of attitude to other people on this list.
