I suggest you do md5sum on the file you downloaded
to make sure you have an error-free copy.

I regularly run BL3 on 486s, Pentiums, PIIs, K6-2s with
RAM ranging from 8 to 256. It works on all of them.
Sometimes there is a clash with a DOS driver in config.sys
or autoexec.bat (which stops Linux or Xvesa from booting).
That can be eliminated by booting without DOS drivers, or
by altering the parameters of the offending driver, or by
using a different version of the driver.

It sounds like loadlin.exe is unable to get control of
the system. Are you perhaps running some sort of anti-
virus routine that protects the system from take-over?
Alternatively, it could be something unusual in your
hardware/firmware.

Once loadlin launches properly you will get plenty of
output messages. If all else fails, I suggest you try
the floppy version of BL3, which uses a different boot
method (LILO).

Have you subscribed to the list? Did you use the web
interface or did you send an email to baslinux-request?
Did you get a confirmation message from the listserver?

That should not be necessary. Once you are properly
subscribed to the list, your messages should be
recognized. If you have a problem subscribing, please
tell us precisely what steps you took and what responses
you got from the listserver.

Cheers,
Steven
