BL2 kernel 2.2.16 (my custom kernel with framebuffer support)

insmod slhc
insmod -f ppp2214
insmod -f ltmodem (for 2.2.12-20)

I got complaints about kernel mismatch, tainting the kernel, and forced load, but it recognized the modem at ttyS14.

eznet up 3
(this is set to use /dev/ttyS14, 4 is set for ttyST0 and 2.2.26)

Dialed.....and a lot of stuff about unable to handle kernel paging request at firtual adress 60000000 current-> tss.cr3 = ....................... and stuff about registers (eax, ebx...)
Stack Call Trace Code
pppd failure ...

I was then unable to dial on the other computer which is linked to this one via a phone cord between the modems. Serial device is looped back, just made an odd noise.

ppp-off (on first computer with ltmodem) - no such pid

ps - listed the processes and then when I exited:
Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereferences at virtual address 000000014 Oops CPU EIP EFLAGS and more registers ...
Kernel panic:

The modem is now working on the second computer.
I can switch vts on the first computer but nothing happens when I type in the new VT so I will power off (can't reboot, no response).

I tested the ltmodem in BL3 before with 2.2.26 and Ken's setup, which works. I have not tested 2.2.26 in BL2 (first I had to downgrade the glibc). I have not tested 2.2.16 in BL3. Should I bother to do so?

David, do you want to try these two modules with 2.2.16 in BL2?
I would like the option of going online with BL2 because I have it working with links2 graphical svgalib (from Delilinux), and xpdf (in case I need to view pdf files while online and don't want to bother with pdftoppm), and I want a framebuffer-scsi kernel smaller than bzimage.big.

Maybe I should download the 2.2.26 kernel source and give up on 2.2.16.
How big is it?

insmod: Kernel-module version mismatch
/lib/modules/2.2.16/misc/ltmodem.o was compiled for kernel version
2.2.12-20 while this kernel is version 2.2.16.

It did not insert (I checked with lsmod).

Try insmod -f to force insertion. It inserted with insmod -f into the
regular BL2 kernel.

Does 12-20 mean a subversion of 12, or a range of 12-20?

subversion of 12

Are modules for 2.12 or 2.14 really supposed to work with 2.16?
I think I deleted them and will have to start over again now.

How on earth did you ever get this combination working with BL3.32?

The BL3.32 insmod doesn't check the version of the module.

David
