I will first attempt to get the precompiled Lucent
driver for 2.2.16 working.

Why would anybody want to use 2.2.16 instead of 2.2.26 ?
2.2.26 has a similar footprint, and it is significantly
better.

Because they bought the SW7.1 CD and therefore have the kernel source code and have compiled their own custom kernels with support for framebuffer and scsi and sound, which are smaller than the 2.2.26 bzimage.big.

Do you want to compile a kernel or two for me from my config for 2.2.16?

And 2.2.26 won't work with USB memory sticks or camera memory cards anyway.

Cheers,
Steven
