Can the second floppy disk be changed to an .img file
and loaded somehow with qemu?

Yes. That's exactly how I installed BL3. I used dd
to copy floppy 2 to an image file (disk2.img). Then:
-------------------
qemu -fda disk1.img
-------------------
When it asks you for the second floppy, do this:
--------------------
CTRL-ALT-2
change fda disk2.img
CTRL-ALT-1
ENTER
--------------------

Subsequently I used fdisk, mke2fs, install-to-hd and lilo
to create a hda image file for qemu. Let me know if you
want a step-by-step.

I think I would need to install qemu and use it to understand all this.

We could put a duplicate copy of the BL3.40 partition but with SW91 glibc onto the 40GB laptop drive in an extended partition - why do you recommend using only primary partitions for BL?

Can you post the hda image file for qemu at the BL3.40 site? And offer the URL to the qemu site, where the linuxes available are all large ones (there is a 5MB BSD image).

Sindi

Steven
