  • Subject: [BL] configuring BL3 for PCMCIA modem

I had this pcmcia modem working in another computer which had an internal modem on com2, as ttyS2, without changing config file, just the ttySX setting to ttyS2 in eznet.conf

The other computer died so we put the modem into a Compaq 486 75MHz where the external modem works with Com1, but this PCMCIA does not work yet as Com2 (there is no internal modem). Edited eznet.conf to ttyS1, uncommented ppp.o and slhc.o lines in rc and the start line (to load three pcmcia modules). Looked at /etc/pcmcia/config, which has a line about include port followed by three addresses. 0x4ff 0x8ff 0xcff.

dmesg has something about ports 0x3e0 and 0x3e4. Should I be changing the include line to 0x3e0 to use this pcmcia card in this computer?

This is sort of an external pcmcia modem, with a card into which you plug a black box with four lights and two phone jacks. We plugged into both jacks. We tried the modem in both pcmcia slots.
