Strange. Since we are talking about the same kernel (2.2.16),
I assume that the larger bare.i kernel must contain some extra
capability (missing in the BL2 kernel) that is fouling the
CDrom routine.

AFAIK, bare.i includes everything in the BL2 (and more).
So, the bare.i kernel is probably doing something the BL2
is not.
