It was suggested to me that I run WP51/DOS under DOSEMU in linux. I have not tried it yet, too complicated to set up.
I ran across ONE console-based linux wordprocessor, free, but it produced proprietary format that no other program could import.

I cannot use a text editor because I work as a translator and need to provide bold, underline, centering. A possible option is to write with a text editor and then add RTF tags manually. It is time consuming and then you would need to view with some wordprocessor to make sure you got it all right.

You could also add HTML tags but I don't know of one for hard page.
Lynx has an editing mode in which you can edit and switch back and forth to revealed codes and formatted output. There are tags for bold and underline and if you use lynx.lss and set attributes properly you can view them on a monochrome monitor.

Anyone know how to do a hard page with HTML?

I still use DOS for wordprocessing.

There are no WYSIWYG wordprocessors for the Linux console.
All of them use X. There are plenty of text editors for
the console and some of them are pretty capable. You will
find some in the /ap1 directory of Slackware 4.0
