Which is what I'm doing. Corel/debian on an IDE, FREEDOS on the SCSI,
set to boot off the floppy. Leave the floppy out, it boots to Linux.
Unlike the usual boot menu, I dont havta be at the kybd to make the
choice, just turn on the pc, and either shove the floppy in, or not.

All my own writing sits on the dos drive where no online sabotage
software can ever do anything to it. And no matter what a virus does, it
cant get by the lock tab on a boot floppy. Come hell or high water, I'll
always be able to boot the system, and if I can get BL to access the
debian IDE, I'll even be able to write, possibly correct, some problems.
A 'rescue floppy' wont. I dunno where you live, maybe it's all the iron
in the mountain, but whatever, the half life of a 'resuce floppy' is
about 3 weeks.

Something else I recently became aware of, is computer modeling of the
earth's core, which suggests that the reason the magnetic field has been
weakening in so many areas of the earth, why the compass deviation maps
are no longer up to date, is that we are about to go into a polar
reversal. I havent seen the modeling yet, but I wouldnt be surprised if
a magnetic pulse would show up during that transition, and wipe out
every hard drive on the planet along with all other forms of magnetic
media. You better have a UPS too.

One of the great things about BL, is the ability to boot off the dos,
which are the simplest tools we commonly have to get a trashed system up
and running again without wiping out all our own personal data.

PS: can BL access an ext3? or only ext2?
