With 486s your best chance of getting reasonable
performance from Mozilla is:
(1) use the Phoenix (Firebird) version
(2) run it on one 486 and display it on another

You might want to try links-g. It copes better with
javascript than Arachne (unless Arachne has been improved
since the last time I used it). BrowseX is also worth a
try -- it reminds me of Arachne (but it does javascript).

There are plenty of open-source graphical browsers to
choose from. The most likely to perform on a 486 are
links-g, dillo, BrowseX. My personal preference for a
486 is Netscape 3.04 (which runs on BasicLinux 1.8).
