Anyone who wants to see how Pine works before installing it can set up a
free user account at my bbs by telnetting to www.grex.org and signing in
as newuser. Choose a login, and a password at least 6 characters long,
and you probably want to 'force' vt100 (or it will set terminal type to
unknown or dumb terminal and things won't work quite right).

Kermit telnet by default supplies your current login as the login and may
ask you for root's password. Hit the enter key to enter your own login.

When you type pine (assuming you have received mail) you will see a
numbered list of all the received mails (marked N - new, A - answered,
etc.) You can read, reply, forward, delete, export to home directory, V
to see the text parts of mails sent by AOL users that are HTML and text,
and then S to save attached images or other binary files. To view mail
with text and HTML you can also do a Reply. If you have botched something
the way I did you may not be able to Export (save) a mail. You can create
folders, run procmail. Your choice of several shells. You can play with
w3m and many versions of Lynx through 2.8.4. Compile small programs for
SunOS4.

There are all sorts of things you can configure in Setup. A menu at page
bottom (hints on using Pico and Pine).
