Could I install the whole package and then delete the 1M of files that are
not needed for Links? I don't see the point in filling up the hard drive
with a bunch of files that are not needed.

What else would be needed other than the symlinks for elflibs files?

For the libssl (?) needed for Lynx I was able to just copy over that one
file and make a link to it, if I recall correctly.
