Hmmm...I think I missed that when I compiled my machine, not sure, will

I have both IDE and sound working with vanilla 2.4.21, for the network I'd try AMD 8111 but I'm lazy ;-), 3COM NIC that's also built-in does the job just fine. BTW, 2.4.22-pre has not "AMD Viper" but "AMD and nForce" or something like that.

check, but my nForce2 machine is working fine (minus the problems I have
getting a USB mouse to work in XFree86....grr! Perhaps 4.3.99 will fix
it...).

No cigar here. Nothing works, neither /dev/mouse nor /devices/input/mice or mouse0. I have Logitech wireless kb/mouse at home and it's fine by using ImPS/2 and /devices/input/mice, but at work it's Microsoft wireless kb/mouse, and no luck.

Incidentally other compiles fail also. Spells glibc 2.3.2 and gcc 3.3
both failed, but compiled with 2.4.20.

but 2.4.20 won't compile with gcc 3.3 - but that's a different story

Worf

2.4.20 (and .21) compiles fine for me with gcc 3.3, but I've never gotten
a 2.5.x kernel to boot (compiled fine, but goes nowhere upon boot). :(

I couldn't compile it yet. Missing references.
