I use 3c905 cards on my desktop systems and the server... using the 3c59x
driver and a SMC tulip card with the laptop. We're quite similar there. My
main desktop (K7@850MHz on Epox 7KXA KX-133 Mainboard), which I installed
SMGL onto has no NFS problem.

Suddenly, linux doesn't like my media box with the K6-3+ on the DFI K6BV3+
mainboard... with the 2.4 kernel (pre-SMGL) it was ok, I guess. Also, I put a
new card in recently (Hauppauge HVR-1300 DVB-T/TV card not yet really
supported in linux and with crappy Windows software not working either)...
one could argue that this one makes some conflict; but this wouldn't explain
smb transfers being fast enough. I'll do some testing with a Knoppix if I
find/burn one... If another 2.6 distro works fine... well, I'll try the
kernel config from that one. If that then still has bad NFS on sourcemage,
then one should discuss this further - maybe on that IRC you keep suggesting
(just installed a client and peeked in... btw: I'm "sobukus" there).
