Keeping Track--- and still conforming to the KISS principle? O.K. - if the simple data base is on the server side and the interface is a simple fill in the blank form that would be filled out with available stock any individual might have----then-- that info is automatically put on the data base. Next if the server houses the email of the members who request a seed -- when the requestor for a seed type fills out the query form then availability is shown and blind call for the quantity can then be placed. If no seed of the type is available then an email can be automatically generated to interested parties telling them of the availability when it becomes available. The computer does most of the waiting to see when it is available so you don't have to miss an opportunity -- then a debit can be created to the requestor's account and so on. Might work, seems any java, pearl, or ss language would handle it. Still scratching my head.
Different subject: Most of the large seed companies throw away the seed that goes below a certain tested viability. I know that people assume each years seed is fresh but in reality it is simply fresh tested. They will recertify the seed before each season and then sell. Some times if it is too low they toss it. For me even if it is testing 20% and it is free it is better than what I had. So I would like the seed companies to know that there might be people interested here at the seed exchange in relieving them of their "Bad Seed". Bob c

i used to be in a barter club - a few decades ago - it was cool.
also appreciate LL's idea, but some are not so savvy, and don't want to take the time to learn.

my  opinion is using that ol'  kis(s) principle.....unless someone on this list is so devoted and has enough time to keep databases, everyone's input, whether they send enough of this or that, or whatever.  I have seed traded for years, and just like simple trading, with people's educational banter, and give and take of knowledge on the side. Just another opinion.
I doubt i would do this if it got complex, as easy has worked for a long time.
