Linda, the torture was achieved by tying people to racks over bamboo in the
season when shoots emerge, the shoots grow incredibly fast and would grow
straight through the prisoners living body. The Japanese also did this to
Ozzie prisoners of war in Asia in WWII. Nothing to do with eating :)
